"I'll go back and talk to Kathryn now. You go sit with him and I'll be right back." Dale instructed.

"Alright...thank you." Sylvie said nodding before stepping forward and standing onto her tiptoes to peck a kiss at Dale's cheek. She pulled away and promptly turned on her heel and re-entered the office, taking her seat back up with Dale back at her feet.

Dale had come home in the early afternoon from work after having completed everything in the office early. He was bustling about the kitchen, preparing dinner for him and Sylvie. He wasn't a four star chef or anything, but he enjoyed cooking and did it well enough, Rena and Mikey and even Franky had taught him how to make a few dishes. So there he was with his sleeves rolled up and his hair slicked back to be out of his face; preparing beef stir fry. In the midst of his cooking, the home phone began to ring, setting down the wok and wiping his manly adult hands on a towel he approached it before answering.

"Hello?"

"Dale?" The voice answered.

"Kathryn, how are you?" He asked, Dale was just friendly like that.

"Um, in a bit of a tough spot." She replied.

Sylvie had just gotten off her shift not too long ago and, after running a few errands and what not, was on her way home. She'd called Dale earlier and discussed the domestic matters of dinner before picking up a few things to tie up the ends of the meal they'd agreed on.

"Yeah, what's the problem?" Dale asked, shifting on his feet.

"Um well, you remember Dean? His court hearing got moved since his Mother hasn't been found yet. And the fosters I have him with can't keep him because they're getting new kids." Kathryn began.

"Okay. Go on." Dale replied.

"Can you watch him?" She asked.

Sylvie had just pulled up to the little house she and Dale had moved into not that long ago (perhaps a year or so) and turned off the car before piling out with a plastic grocery bag in hand. SHe looked worn out and tired, as she usually did when she got off work and made her way home, however, despite her weary shoulders and hung head, it couldn't be denied that she had a girlish skip to her step. The thought of going home to an already started dinner and her lovely fiance was always enough to lighten things up, even if it was just a little bit.

Dale peeked down the hall and saw through their living room window that Sylvie was home, her car parked out front and she herself was making her way up to the house.

"I'll talk to my wife- I mean, fiance-"

"No, you mean wife."

"-And I'll call you back." Dale said before hanging up and walking over to open the front door for Sylvie.

He beamed widely upon seeing her, working the hours she did made her look worn and tired. But Dale still looked at her and saw the same youthful and refreshing young girl from his youth; even in the corner of his eye he couldn't help but think of how beautiful and lovely she was and smile.

"Welcome home," He said with a soft grin. "Let me help you with those." He offered then, holding out his hands for bags.

"Hey there, sweets." Sylvie grinned upon seeing Dale meeting her at the front door, a broad smile on his face and a vibrant gleam in his eye. She handed the bag to Dale, grateful for the offer, and proceeded to step into the house, stopping only to get up on her tiptoes to peck a kiss at Dale's chin. "How was your day?" She inquired.

Dale took the bags from Sylvie before filing into the house, nudging the door shut with his heel before following her into kitchen; smiling bashfully to himself after having earned a quick peck.

"It was good, I got dinner started and cooking since I got off early." Dale said. "How was yours, beautiful?" He asked, setting the bags down on the counter top.

"Exhausting and taxing, but worthwhile all the same." Sylvie smiled as she went ahead stepped over to the dining table that sat in a little breakfast nook, just adjacent from the kitchen area. She plopped down into a chair and leaned against it's backing, letting out a sigh as she slid out of her shoes.

Dale got busy putting the groceries away before speaking over his shoulder to Sylvie. "So uh, Kathryn just called," Dale began. "Do you remember Dean?"

"Of course I do." Sylvie said, reaching up to rub at her tired shoulders whilst Dale spoke to her.

"Well, his mother didn't show up for the court hearing today and the fosters he was with are getting new kids and can't keep him." Dale explained. "Kathryn was wanting to know if we would watch him."

Sylvie paused in what she was doing and promptly looked up to Dale, eyes wide and piqued with interest and eyebrows arched.

"Watch him? Like, have him stay here with us?" She inquired for clarification.

"Yes, that's right." Dale nodded.
