The doctor, who had just strolled in, was getting himself situated into a smock and slapping on matching face mask and gloves. He positioned himself at the end of the Sylvie's bed, giving her a brief check-up, before looking up and giving a thumbs up as a go ahead signal.
"You're all ready to go, Sylvie, if you can give me a big push at the beginning of your next contraction.." He said, helping her legs up into the stirrups.
Sylvie looked to Dale, after having ridden out the contraction, and feigned a smile and a nod.

It didn't take all that long after Dale arrived that the ball got rolling and Sylvie was giving that final push, bringing their firstborn into the world with a loud cry from both mother and baby.
"It's a boy!" the doctor announced as he held up the baby for both Dale and Sylvie to see. The nurse took a blanket and draped it over Sylvie's chest and belly before the doctor stood up and placed the wailing boy onto her persons.
Sylvie couldn't help but smile and cry as she reached up and covered the baby's figure, all the while admiring him closely. There wasn't a lot of hair to speak of, however, what little hair he had was a light blond, much like his mother's, while his eyes were a deeper blue like his father and grandfather before him. His little face was round and his ears stuck out apart from his head.
“He’s beautiful.” Dale said with a smile as he looked down at the two affectionately.
It had been an eventful day, between the birth of his son and being shot, he was exhausted. But he was happy to be alive again, at least long enough to meet his son. _________________
Sylvie looked away from their son just long enough to look at Dale. She leaned over as far as she could, managing to land a kiss at the tip of his nose.
“Me too...But I wouldn’t miss this, not even if I was dying.” Dale said, leaning over as much as he could in his wheelchair, to kiss her on her forehead. _________________
