It was moving day, well, moving and arriving day for the Martin family. While Kiona was native to Demont, her children were moving from the Outback and into Grandpa's old farm house. They had planned on staying with Kiona's parents, Tim and Carla, only until the house was settled and unpacked. It was the same as always, two floors, six bedrooms, two bath with an attic and basement. Grandpa Evan made this house with his own bare hands, a winding porch that went all around the house was a special addition for Grandma Jamie. It was special though old, it was full of experience and memories for Kiona and all the Walker family. But now that Grandpa was gone and Kiona was a adult getting up there in her years herself, it was time to return to her roots.
Kiona was still tall, not slender but athletic after all her years in dance. Her hair was still an inky black but now starting a grey a bit to accompany the age lines on her face. She stood outside the house with a large box in her arms as she admired it with a smile before going on in; leading the group of movers. Right at the end of the troop, was Bliss Martin; the youngest of the Martin pack. She was practically an embodiment of Kiona's youth with her bouncy blonde curls and bright blue eyes. Her plump rosy lips were curled into a smile as she hoisted a large box into her arms from the truck. She was spunky and confident, just like her mother. Bliss always tried her hardest to prove she was strong and tough just like the boys, but it wasn't far from the truth.
Her dark, tan and freckled skin was beautiful decorated with a series of scars from her Outback escapades and adventure. Mostly starting with, 'I can make that jump,' 'look what I can do,' 'I can totally lift that,' and 'It didn't seem like a bad idea at the time.'
"Bliss, put that down, it's too heavy for you!" Kiona called over her shoulder from the house.
As a girl, Bliss would pout her lip at such a comment; now she merely adorned her catty smile before accepting it as a challenge. "I got it Mom." She called back before marching up the porch and through the door; struggling but still successfully carrying in the large box. _________________
It had been a long time since Jacey Rae had taken up residency in Demont, not since his first boys were born almost eighteen years ago, and to be honest he felt that his return was a long time coming. He loved the home he and Kiona built back in Australia, he loved being in the place he was born, but he knew, and he was sure Kiona knew at some point as well, that his wife missed her roots, her family, her Demont. Of course he was going to miss Australia, but they'd had their years there and they raised their little family there and it was time for a change, it was time to go back home.
Jacey, in his age, had shrunk a bit (about an inch or so), but still remained a good bit taller than his wife. His waistline had thickened up just a bit, not quite pudgy but not as fit as he was in his golden years. Sparse grey hairs had started to sprout up in his blond mane shortly after Bliss turned two, presumably due to Terrible Two Parent Stress. Despite the grey hair, the years had done Jacey well and left him ridden with very little aging.
Jacey was following close behind Kiona, a large box held close to his chest. He looked over his shoulder to tell his daughter to mind her mother but found himself instead scolding his two sons, Johnathan and Jamie, who, at the moment were carrying two boxes of fine China he and Kiona had gotten as a gift at their wedding whilst performing a balancing act on top of said boxes with precious photo albums by the plenty and shoving each other back and forth with giddy grins.
"Boys, behave!" Jacey hollered, turning around to confront both of the behemoth lads.
Both boys were a fine mix of their mother and father with Jacey's build and hair color, his nonsensical sense of humor and knack for stringed instruments and making breakfast foods. They had Kiona's athletic build and her vibrant Walker grin, they had her whimsical laugh and her yearning for adventure and appreciation for music. They were neither just like Jacey or Kiona , they were the both of them mish-mashed together and pulled apart into two perfect halves.
Johnathan and Jamie instantly halted in their shenanigans.
"But we were-"
"No buts, just be careful. Those are important items." Jacey cut off Johnathan and shook his head before looking to Bliss. "And you, young lady, mind your mother and be careful." He gave a light scold.
While Jacey was a bit reckless himself in his younger years, it couldn't be denied that parenthood had changed him and he was all for his children's well being, even if that meant dishing out the occasional scolding.
Bliss was busy laughing at the Twin's expense as they were getting scolded, but stopped short of her own light scolding. She pursed her lip somewhat before uttering, "I got it..." and setting it down inside the house just by the door.
"Just sit the boxes anywhere and I'll have them sorted later." Kiona said, again over her shoulder before sitting her own box atop the kitchen counter. "So, are you going to go back to the HOP?" Kiona asked her husband with a chuckle. Kiona remembered all the good and bad times with living in Demont, she remembered Jacey being a Breakfast Foods Technician too. _________________
Both Jamie and Johnathan returned the favor and laughed at Bliss as their father gave her her scolding. They both set their boxes down where Bliss had settled hers. Johnathan reached over and slung his arm one way about Bliss' shoulders while Jamie mirrored the action on the other side.
"Don't worry, sis, one day dad and mum will realize you're practically a man." Jamie commented.
"Yeah, they'll see the hair on your chest and that mustache coming in in no time!" Johnathan teased.
Jacey turned to face his kids again, but this time ignored the scolding and shook his head with a roll of his eyes. He joined Kiona in the kitchen and couldn't help but lighten up just a bit at her question.
"I don't know, do you think Craig and Murph will take me back?" Jacey asked. He set his box beside hers and turned to face her, flashing a brief grin before looking back out into the entryway area to his kids. "Maybe I could talk to them though...for the boys. See if there's any work." He said, nodding.
"If Craig isn't still holding a grudge, I think he would." Kiona began, folding her arms and turning to face him as she leanta against the counter. "There's always theatre too." Kiona suggested.
"I hope so, I know I'm a late bloomer but JEEZE." Bliss exclaimed with a disappointed sigh. "But then again I don't see any face fur on you lot," she teased. _________________
"Yeah, but is any of your gang still working there? And if so, aren't any of them upset for you marrying some devilishly handsome Australian and none of them?" Jacey asked, laughing a bit as he leaned against the counter as well, mimicking Kiona's movements while cracking a grin.
"What are you talking about? I've got plenty of facial hair!" Johnathan exclaimed as he leaned down and pressed his cheek to Bliss', running his face up and down, brushing thick bristles of hair against her face. "I just shaved yesterday and it's ALREADY coming back!"
"And I just shaved the other day!" Jamie proclaimed as he rubbed at his face some, rubbing his own facial hair for clarification.
"Alright, alright." Bliss laughed, pushing her brother away from her face. "Either way, neither of you've got a real manly beard, not like Dad." She said playfully.
"I don't think so, but they could put in a word still I'm sure." Kiona shrugged. "If anything they were stoked, that's the only way they would've been excused to go explore the outback." She added. _________________
"Well that's because Dad's like the Yowie-Whowie, whereas we're only part Yowie." Jamie explained with a firm nod as he described his father as a cryptid creature.
"Yeah. he's just like a Yowie!" Johnathan bellowed as he was shoved away.
"But I don't think they initially anticipated that your outback adventuring would take eighteen years." Jacey chuckled and grinned as he leaned forward to peck a kiss at Kiona's forehead.
"Excuses, excuses." Bliss said, waving her hand with a bright smile as she laughed.
"Well we'll get settled and see about jobs for the kids then. Who knows, Dad could probably set them up with something at the hospital too." Kiona shrugged. _________________
"I stink?" Bliss retorted with her mouth agape. "Maybe you should sleep outside then." She said, giving them each a playful elbow to their ribs.
Kiona laughed watching their kids before moving away from the counter. "You know, I could call one of your cousins if you kids feel like exploring." She suggested to their kids. _________________
Jamie and Johnathan were just about to tag-team their sister when they heard their mother's voice, causing them to pause and turn to face her.
"Like who?" Johnathan inquired. While the Martin pack had come to Demont before on several occassions all throughout their childhood, none of them were all to familiar with the family.
"Well they're not really your cousins. Just my old mates kids. I think you've heard me talking to my friend Mina before. She's got a couple of squirrly kids. Aunt Rena does too." Kiona said. _________________
